Where were all these people who are now claiming that Ilaiayaraja is their man, as he is a Dalit, Tamilian, etc. when he was born to poor parents & when he was struggling in his initial days? Y didnt they “own” him then? They didnt even know him then.

It is only after he has achieved such greatness with his hard work & love for music. So. Isaignyani belongs to all those who respect hard work & love music, and not MERELY to those incidentally born into his caste, creed or region.

And by the way, what movement are you talking about? The Movement claiming privileges in lieu of the sufferings of your forefathers? I dont want to discuss anything more of this here, as this is not an appropriate forum

I’m able to see him as Saraswathiputhra & its sad that u could see only a dalit in him. By ‘only’ here I mean that its bad to see only caste instead of character & brilliance.
Are you following the real Dalit movement? If so, Instead of cribbing that Ilaiyaraja is our man & Ambedkar is our man, pl try to do even 0.01% of what they achieved.

You will be respected & loved for that, not that you belong to the creed of these geniuses.

1 of the greatness es of Raja was that he never allowed the music to dominate the lyric or its meaning. He had respect for literary values. Even in those days of relatively mediocre technologies, you could clearly hear each every minute bit if the artiste’s utterance. RAJA IS THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THE UNIVERSAL LAW THAT QUANTITY & QUALITY CAN’T GO TOGETHER.
