performed by Azad on Sitar | AR Rahman on Piano

2 – Jai Ho — Slumdog Millionaire
performed by : AR Rahman, Shweta Pandit, Tanvi Shah

A R Rahman yesterday (11-12-2010) performed at Norway in the Nobel Peace Prize Concert honoring this year’s winner Liu Xiaobo, alongside the likes of veterans like Herbie Hancock.

ARR played two tracks from the soundtrack that gave him worldwide recognition, Slumdog Millionaire. First was Escape, the one which had featured some amazing sitar playing by Asad Khan, only yesterday Rahman conjured up a much more haunting improvised version of the track! The second one was Jai Ho, Rahman singing the song alongside Shweta Pandit and Tanvi Shah to a dance performance

ARR’s performance was awesome.. the Dancer’s moves were so cliched, and
does not truly represent (any of) Indian Dance Forms even though it appears
to be classical dance moves. Either the dancers should have been Indians,
or the dance moves and the costumes should have well suited the dancers..

Rahman is an Arabic word. It IS pronounced Rackhman like the way Anne
Hathway is pronouncing it. But since Hindi does not have the epiglottical
Kh, we Hindustani speakers say it Rahman.
